Operations Coordinator

Role description

This is the perfect opportunity for someone looking to start their career in operations, service delivery or project management, working with experienced project managers, service delivery leads, and QA analysts across a broad range of software projects and support services. We'll provide a wide range of formal and on-the-job training and mentorship, allowing you to develop your skills across support, delivery and quality assurance.

We're building for the future

We're actively creating a diverse team and we welcome applications from all people, regardless of culture, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, marital status, age, gender identity or expression (or indeed any other characteristic whether protected by law or not). We want ours to be a truly inclusive environment, where everyone can contribute their best work and develop to their full potential.

At the core of this role is a genuine desire to help teams deliver high quality software and services. We don't expect experience in operations or project management, but you'll definitely need to be organised, detail-oriented, and enjoy helping teams work smoothly. We'll provide a range of formal and on-the-job training to help you develop across service delivery, project office and quality assurance functions, and we'll introduce you to Agile methodologies and standards such as ISO 9001 and ISO 27001.

AI is becoming a core part of how we work and what we build for our clients, and this role will give you real exposure to that — both the tools we use day-to-day and the projects we're delivering.

We create intricate, beautiful customer-facing applications that are used by hundreds of thousands of people every day, so the services you'll be helping to coordinate are used by real people in real situations immediately. You'll be working across small, agile, highly collaborative teams with colleagues who want to help you succeed.

The role is based in our York office, right in the heart of the beautiful city of York. You'll report to our Service Delivery Manager, who will support your development and help you navigate the breadth of the role as you find your feet.

We work in a hybrid manner, with most — but not all — of the team in the office anywhere from one day a week to full time. We'll support your preferred way of working, but will expect someone in this role to be in the office regularly to connect with the team and, at times, with customers.

Responsibilities

These are the sorts of things you'll be doing. We're all always learning, so don't worry if some of these things are new to you; comprehensive training and support are provided to help you grow and develop.

  • Monitor the service desk, helping with communication, ticket prioritisation and escalation as required
  • Support customer onboarding, service reviews and the administration of service retrospectives
  • Gather and collate project status, financial and timesheet data to support weekly and monthly reporting
  • Assist with ISO 9001 and ISO 27001 evidence gathering, documentation and audit preparation
  • Support QA activities as required, including defect tracking, retesting verified fixes and maintaining test documentation
  • Maintain service documentation and ensure it supports our overall quality processes
  • Collaborate with teams across the business to support proposals, account development and continuous service improvement

Development path

You'll be working alongside our development, DevOps, QA and management teams — people with decades of experience who want to share that with you and help you learn and grow. The role sits across our support and project delivery teams, giving you broad exposure to the full software delivery lifecycle. As your career progresses we'll help you decide where to specialise, and support that specialisation — whether that's Service Delivery, QA or Project Management.

And the huge variety of work we do means you'll never get bored. In the last few years we've worked on everything from school catering to crisis simulation, from injectable medicines to AI for the legal sector. Take a look at our work page to see some recent projects.

We're proud of the careers we've helped progress; people go on to great things after they've worked for Isotoma. Past Isotoma alumni have gone from us straight to Rockstar Games, Apple Music, BBC iPlayer, BBC News, Google, Zoopla, JP Morgan and Raspberry Pi.

Benefits

Starting salary is £27,000. We offer flexible working hours to suit your life outside work (and they’re capped at 37.5 hours a week; we don’t do overtime), generous holidays, a hefty contribution to your pension and private healthcare.
