This is the perfect opportunity for someone looking to advance their career in AWS, Azure and other cloud technologies. We build intricate serverless applications using state of the art technologies, and we’re looking for someone to help our development teams get the most from cloud services. We’ll provide a wide range of formal and on the job training and mentorship, allowing you to develop your skills in areas such as team leadership, AWS, Azure, Kubernetes, Typescript and Infrastructure as Code.
|Salary:||£42k and up|
|Hours:||37.5 hrs (flexi–time)|
|Location:||York city centre|
|Experience:||5 years minimum|
We’re actively creating a diverse team and we welcome applications from all people, regardless of culture, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, marital status, age, gender identity or expression (or indeed any other characteristic whether protected by law or not). We want ours to be a truly inclusive environment, where everyone can contribute their best work and develop to their full potential.
At the core of the role is a genuine desire to build and operate high quality systems. You’ll have a programming background, and might well have a degree or other formal training. Ideally you will also have worked in a support or operational environment at some point, dealing with real–world operational problems.
We use Typescript, the AWS Cloud Development Kit and Pulumi to automate all infrastructure and deployment, but we’re keen to hear from people with any language background. You don’t need to have worked with these tools before but you do need to understand the Infrastructure as Code approach.
You will be working with both internal and external teams of developers and managers and you will be providing advice, code, and support to everyone on projects, often of an architectural nature. A willingness to experiment is important and a desire to remain current in areas such as identity, cloud security, performance and quality is a must.
The role is based in our York office, right in the heart of the beautiful city of York.
These are the sorts of things you’ll be doing. We’re all always learning, so don’t worry if some of these things are new to you; comprehensive training and support are provided to help you grow into the developer you want to become.
- Work with small to medium sized teams on projects running anywhere from three months to two years
- Actively engage with customers and colleagues, including helping design their solutions
- Help our Development teams to improve
- Contribute to architecture and design of large, distributed applications hosted at AWS and Azure, using the full range of available services
- Use modern tools to build infrastructure and continuous delivery pipelines
You’ll be working alongside our management team; people with decades of experience who want to share that experience with you. As your career progresses we’ll help you decide where to specialise, and support that specialisation.
We love to see our team members grow. As well as asking you to help your colleagues we’ll actively support your growth into areas such as team leadership, requirements capture, cloud technologies, Kubernetes, functional programming, machine learning, application performance and application security. And throughout your time with us you’ll be using a huge range of tools from relational databases and queuing systems right through to real time stream processing.
And the huge variety of work we do means you’ll never get bored. In the last few years we’ve worked on everything from karaoke to ship–broking, from video–mixing to teaching doctors. Take a look at our work page to see some recent projects.
We’re proud of the careers we’ve helped progress; people go on to great things after they’ve worked for Isotoma. Recent Isotoma alumni have gone from us straight to Apple Music, BBC iPlayer, BBC News, Google, Zoopla, JP Morgan and Raspberry Pi.
Salary upwards from £42k depending on your experience. We offer flexible working hours to suit your life outside work (and they’re capped at 37.5 hours a week; we don’t do overtime), generous holidays, a hefty contribution to your pension and private healthcare.
Please apply by email to firstname.lastname@example.org, clearly stating the role you are applying for. Please include a CV and any examples of your work you feel may be relevant.
